First of all, let’s point out the obvious. It’s way the heck out of focus, and there’s nothing happening in the photo. Sometimes, when I’m trying to be a bit subtle about taking a photo, I’ll miss my composition entirely, particularly when I’m shooting from the hip with a camera or lens that I’m not used to yet – including the F100s that I borrowed from Andrew Gram for a hot minute. Thanks Andrew.
The crosswalk sets up some very strong lines, and the woman in red is in a good spot on the left of the frame. But there’s no decisive moment. Theres’ nothing happening in the photo. I think that if it as actually in focus, it would be less effective. Maybe it works as a background piece for an article about Tokyo? I dunno. I can’t even tell you why I didn’t just delete this one off the camera straight away.. there’s just something about it.
