This is a really basic photo… but it’s a fun one that I have fond memories of when I trip on it in my photo archives.
This was an era in my life when I was learning by experimenting with small plastic toys and wireless speedlights in my apartment at odd hours. Sunlight is really easy to recreate with a strobe, since it’s a small, hard light.
The NASA photos, like the famous Earthrise from Apollo 8 in 1968, are public domain, so if you blur them a little, and put them full screen on your laptop, you can set your Lost In Space Robot toy on the keyboard of your laptop, and fire away.
And the noodle-baking bit… think about how much more powerful the laptop is than the computer in the Apollo 8 capsule was.
